DESCRIPTION

Camps and Hiking Routes are the activities that generally require the collaboration of volunteers. The primary role of the volunteer in these cases is to provide assistance. Each participant has specific support needs for daily tasks (dressing, hygiene, eating, mobility) that will be attended to by the volunteer.

The coordinators of each activity make an assignment—prior to the activity—so that each volunteer has the opportunity to meet the participant and their family, allowing them to learn firsthand in which moments the participant may need more support.

The participant-volunteer assignment is made after analyzing the support needs of each individual to ensure a balanced match, also taking into account the previous experience with disabilities of the interested volunteers.

In the Camps, in addition to performing this crucial assistive role, which is so important for the daily lives of many of our participants, volunteers participate in all the activities carried out (workshops, zip-lining, swimming, evening events, farm activities, horse riding, etc.) and are key to the successful development of the camp, promoting the integration of all participants into the group, their autonomy, and their sense of personal worth.

These activities are always supervised by one or two coordinators from the Foundation, who are responsible at all times for the proper functioning of the Sports Program. In the case of Camps, we always have on-site monitors who lead the activities.
